Seeking the Plan of God

When I was studying in high school and fast approaching my senior year I was asked, “So what do you want to do with your life?” Well, I knew what I was doing, but had very little experience of what career would be a good fit. That’s when I would get advice from a school counselor, but I only received how many credits were needed for college.  I was just looking into the fog. I could see things up close but nothing in the distance. I reached out and guessed that maybe a marine biologist? But my parents, close by and in view, felt jobs were too slim and nursing would be better. So I became a nurse.

Working as an RN was all consuming. I was in charge of a floor that held thirty two patients. I had two LPNs and three Aides. I was at the charge desk transcribing orders, initiating those orders, and assigning them, then walking the floor  making sure the orders were carried out. I also worked with the doctors and families. Lunches were late and short, and I was always late leaving the shift due to giving reports and documentation. I was now living in a new fog. I saw nothing beyond work and in due time, I burned out. Is this what my life was supposed to be?

In the end I moved to take care of my parents and the fog started to lift because I found a guiding  light. It led me to a totally new and unexpected path. By the Lord’s design for my life journey I became Rev. Sybille Norris Rn, (Reverend). Don’t live in a fog. Give your life to God and receive the perfect plan.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jer. 29:11
