Where to Begin (Non-Christians and Christians)

I’ll let you in on a little secret.  The Bible is no ordinary book.  It’s a never-ending book because it’s about God—the author and creator.  It’s also a life manual. But you need to have a relationship with the author in order to grasp its contents. Then, you ask permission in prayer to understand the intricate contents and how it pertains to you. In other words you just don’t pick up the  Bible and read it with your own understanding. You have to know the author and ask Him to teach you.

So it starts with a relationship with the Lord.  It is surprising to me how many people do not realize this and don’t know how.

Repent.  Admit you are a sinner so that He can take it from you.

Ask forgiveness.   Realizing He is the only one who can take it from you

Ask Him into your heart so the healing can start and follow Him.

Now open the Bible and let the adventure begin.

Why the dramatics? Because people don’t understand the Bible and don’t realize it was never meant to be read without God. I know I experienced it first hand.

As a nurse, I studied a lot and when it came to the Bible I didn’t like it and formed my own opinion about it.  Later, when I discovered the love of God, a whole new world opened for me.  I also realized that my God was not only teaching me, He was protecting me from the many hurts this world brings. Did my life get easier? No, but I had a deep understanding that helped me through hard times and I grew from it.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for

doctrine, for reproof, for correction,  for instruction, in

           righteousness.” 2 Tim. 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have

             everlasting life.”John 3:16

Jesus’ love from the cross:

“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them;  for they know not what

they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.” Luke 23:34

Jesus, the son of God, knows all your hurts and pain and, in your relationship with Him, you receive His love and guidance as a child of God.
